Mrs. Katerina Stathopoulou has a total working experience of 33 years of which 29 years have been in managerial positions in the fields of Shipping and Banking. She is a seasoned, maritime professional with a unique blend of International finance and operations expertise. She has substantial experience in originating and managing transactions in the Maritime Industry. She is also multi-tasking, results oriented professional, with strong organizational, networking and negotiating skills. Her career in shipping started in 1986 as Assistant CFO for Athenian Sea Carriers, one of the traditional and prestigious Greek shipping Groups, and continued into Banking in 1992 as Head of Shipping Finance for two Greek private Banks, responsible for setting up and developing their shipping loan portfolios. She also held the position of Credit Committee member of these banks. Through these managerial positions, she produced positive results of at least $10bn under high pressure and time sensitive environments She currently hold the position of Executive Director of Investments & Finance Ltd. The company is a shipping financial advisory boutique in Piraeus and London providing financial and investment advisory services to shipping and corporate clients. Over the past 15 years with Investments and Finance, she has successfully advised Shipowners and Bank financiers in distress with financial restructuring transactions in excess of $3.5 billion. Such transactions included bankruptcies and complex workouts of public traded securities she has also sourced and arranged complex bank debt financings, bilateral loans, syndications and club deals in excess of $16 billion and public and private equity placements in excess of $4 billion. She advises financial institutions who wish to gain exposure in the shipping industry by analysing and evaluating potential investments as well as identifying target shipping clients. She has proven her ability to learn quickly, manage multiple competing priorities, handle effective negotiations for difficult and sensitive shipping matters and apply professional and personal skills to achieve company objectives. She is also an active member of WISTA Hellas and she is currently serving my second term as Executive Committee Member of WISTA International. She is also a member of the Greek Shipping Bankers Association and a Mentor and Board Member of iforU, a non-profit organization for the empowerment and support of young women entrepreneurs through Mentoring & Networking. Furthermore, she is a Lecturer on Shipping Finance at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Finally, she is a frequently invited Speaker and Moderator in International Shipping Conferences held in Greece and abroad on Shipping Finance and General Maritime issues. She has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance from the University of Maryland, USA. She is fluent in Greek and English, with basic knowledge of French.
